Kasaragod is not merely a slice of land, to write in a short draft. The name sounds like a divine land since it ends in a suffix like word 'God'. Infact, the name Kasaragod is derived from the Kannada language "Kuzirakood" meaning Nuxvomica forests (Kanhirakootam). In Malayalam documentary writing, it is mentioned as "Kanjiroot". Travellers who came to Kerala in the year dot called "Kanjan-kuth".
Although the map of Kasaragod altered many times for ruling suitability the solidarity among the people still remain intact. Hindus, Muslim, and Christians are influenced much by the culture of the other. Communal harmony and religious tolerance are the noteworthy characteristic of the people. Kasaragod is the proverb for the confluence of seven different languages such as Konkini, Marathi, Hindustani, Karada, Malayalam, Kannada & Thulu. According to the history, Kasaragod was the first place where the Basil Evanchalical Mission commenced a secular based education to all irrespective of caste, creed or religion.
Similarly many years later, in Manya, a small hamlet of Kasaragod district, established a King’s English School, namely The Global Public School, under the aegis of Mount Crescent Education Charitable Trust, 12 kms away from the hustle and bustle of town, enriched with an excellent learning environment, spread over four acres of land, with a noble vision to impart education to everybody irrespective of caste, creed, religion, high-born or lowbred status.
